The Big EQ Campaign is in the process of building an advisory board to help guide our efforts to ally with and open doors to major sectors of the business and financial community in promoting and financing the Campaign. Advisers might contribute in other ways, such as with pro bono services. Among initial members are the following:
Founder and President of The Global Investment Foundation for Tomorrow (GIFT), a global effort to advance mindfulness training in every sector, Mr. Beard is spearheading EQ awareness in Delaware and Washington DC. In 1972, along with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr., Mr. Beard co-founded the Jefferson Awards Foundation to create a Nobel Prize for public service. The Jefferson Awards recognize both ordinary people who do extraordinary things and individuals whose public service has had a broad national impact. During the administration of the first George Bush in 1992, he was also the driving force creating the President’s Youth Service Awards to attract thousands of young Americans into community service.

He is also an officer in the regional chapter of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators.
Is the former Secretary of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and former mayor of San Antonio. He currently is chairman of CityView, which he co-founded,an investment management and development firm focused on urban residential real estate in the Western U.S. CityView targets complex multifamily housing opportunities in urban markets overlooked by others due to transaction and development challenges.
Former Owner/Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Valley Community Newspapers. Prior to that David was publisher of Metro Newspapers in San Jose, which he co-founded in 1985. Active in Silicon Valley civic and cultural affairs, he is spearheading the Big EQ’s efforts in Silicon Valley.

A teacher and mother who is an ardent activist for EQ and social-emotional learning, she is leading the organizing effort in the Inland Empire region of California as a steering committee member and chair of the Outreach Committee of our sister organization The California Social-Emotional Learning Alliance.
Former President and current board member of the Santa Clara County Board of Education in CA. and a former teacher, he is an ardent proponent of SEL in schools. Mr. DiSalvo supports a system of public education in which all students succeed and failure is not tolerated. He has focused on closing the racial achievement gap while increasing high school graduation and college going rates, especially for first generation college students and imprisoned students.
Publisher of Latino Leaders Magazine and himself one of the leaders of the Latino business community in the U.S and Mexico. Jorge is also a member of the Board of the New America Alliance, an American Latino business group, and PRIMER Network, a group of high profile Latino executives. He is also Board Member of The American Heart Association.

Currently he is focused on Quantitative Venture Capital, a nascent field based on the convergence of equity crowdfunding, complexity economics and securities law reform. He has helped raise millions of dollars for cancer prevention and other charitable causes.

Founder and CEO of Emerging Transformational Ventures which specializes in facilitating mergers and acquisitions, business development, and marketing and sales.
Founder and President of The Social-Emotional Learning Alliance of Massachusetts (sel4ma.org), an organization of educators, mental health professions, academics, SEL program developers, parents and business people dedicated to expanding SEL in that state and support from the state legislature. The Alliance has had a measurable impact on doing so over the last few years, including by providing some basic training school officials in how to understand and begin to apply SEL in their schools

The company also provides technology to small and medium sized businesses and institutions, including mobile app solutions designed to expand outreach and efficiency and cross-platform development and integration on all operating systems from desktops to tablet devices and mobile devices. He is the Big EQ’s chief technology adviser.

WELLFORD W. WILMS
Co-director of the Institute for Nonviolence in Los Angeles, based at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also Professor in the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Mr. Wilms works closely with inner city violence programs and is a strong supporter of school SEL programs as violence minimizers.
